About Alderney

Alderney port is a part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. It is the third largest and northernmost isle of the Channel Islands. The island is small enough to walk around and bicycles may be hired. It is the closest island to Britain as well as France among the Channel Islands.

The only parish town of St Anne offers most of the modern amenities. Although Alderney Norman- French language died out at the start of the 20th century, directions to the Town are bilingual. The parish church is of almost cathedral like dimensions. The island offers beautiful countryside, sea views and white sandy beaches.

Its people are called 'Lapins' due to a rabbit population seen on the island. It makes for an ideal retirement place, yet the nightlife is quite lively in summer.

Strict licensing hours are observed on the island and smoking is prohibited in public.
