About Liverpool

Liverpool lies to the Northwest coast of England and is an important passenger and freight harbour. Notable growth of the city began during the 19th century when it handled 40% of the world trade. In 1830, Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the intercity railway link between Liverpool and Manchester, added further to the development of the city. It had its share of destruction during the World War II when 2500 people were killed and almost half the homes in the metropolitan area were damaged. Massive rebuilding of the city was undertaken after the World War, with a focus on regeneration, which continues till today and the city has won the accolade of European Capital of Culture for 2008.

Apart from the forever famous Beatles memorabilia, Liverpool has a lot to offer in regards to places of tourist attractions. It has a lot of heritage architecture to gaze around. Some of the popular tourist attractions of Liverpool are Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Cavern Quarter, Knowsley Safari Park, Albert Dock, Speke Hall Garden and Estate and the Liverpool Plaques.
