About Ryde

Ryde is situated on the Northeastern coast of the Isle of Wight. It is the largest inhabited town on the island located just opposite the Portsmouth harbour. Ryde came into prominence with the arrival of Queen Victoria at Osbourne House in East Cowes in the nineteenth century.

Ryde is famous for its rich heritage of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian properties and is now designated as a conservation area. Along with the architecture, Ryde offers a lot of other attractions for the tourists. For the nature lovers a visit to China Gardens and the Rosemary Vineyard could be a rewarding experience. Ryde boasts of one of the best planetariums in UK, The Orrery. Stunning display at the Waltzing Waters is a real treat to watch. The Isle of Wight council website gives more detailed information on the whole island.
