About Troon

The well-connected ferry port of Troon is situated in the South Ayrshire County, on the West coast of Scotland. Much of the old town is built on the rocky headland, with extensive sandy beaches to its north and south.

At one time, Troon was home to Ailsa Shipbuilding Company. Then the Ayr fishing fleet was moved to the Troon harbour and Troon ferry port was set up in an abandoned part of the harbour.

The Royal Troon Golf Club makes for an ideal golfing holiday and has hosted the Open Golf Championship several times. Troon boasts of Kilmarnack (Barassie) Golf Club and other three municipal courses as well.
