Caen

Caen is a town North-west of France and famous for its rich history. The city was ravaged during many battles and the urbanization which we see today is a result of the reconstruction which began in 1948 and continued till 1962.

Castle of Caen remained mostly undamaged. A beautiful botanical garden lies to the west of the Castle called the Jardin des Plantes. Place St. Pierre is famous for its church building whose interior is renowned for its gorgeous Renaissance recess and the ceiling. The church La Trinite, which lies to the east of Place St. Pierre, is famous for its Romanesque architecture. Musée des Beaux-Arts has the most amazing collections of European art. A museum devoted to the Battle of Normandy is the Musée de Normandie.
