St. Malo

The fortified coastal town, St Malo, is situated in Brittany, Northwest France. One of its famous citizens, Jacques Cartier, discovered Canada in 1534. Although 90% of the city was destroyed, during a battle between the American and German troops in 1944, it was completely restored.
